Can you believe it? Here we are, entering the 11th month of 2017! Where has the time gone? Someone please slow down time just a bit. Ok, I know that’s not really possible. But I just had to ask.
Now it’s time to prepare for the upcoming holiday season. There’s lots of food to make and presents to buy. Don’t forget to get the house all cleaned up and ready for the family that may be coming, and the meals you will be hosting. I know this next one gets harder and harder thanks, to society…but try hard to not get caught up in the commercialism that seems to totally distorted the very reasons we are celebrating.
This is the time for being thankful for what you do have. We are blessed greater than we even realize. And if you find yourself in the position to help out someone less fortunate – then you should do so. Be thankful for the very roof over your head and the food in your pantry. You have your health, your loved ones, and even the air that you breathe. So many around you may not be as fortunate. Even if you have been a little down on your own luck, you can still offer your time. Volunteer at a local shelter, let others know that our world is not entirely a cold, heartless place.
The simple act of giving…should be an uplifting experience. If you do it with a begrudging heart or overall bad attitude, then what good does that do anyone? Absolutely none! The recipient will see or feel your bitterness and resentfulness. And that is not the way it should be.
I challenge you all to take just a few minutes every morning and list 5 things that you are grateful for that day. Then go forward through your day with a kinder heart and you will be amazed at how the blessings will show up. Take part in some sort of ‘pay it forward’ act…maybe paying for the person behind you in the drive thru, or giving a small, random gift to someone. Embrace this season for its true meaning and give thanks to God above for allowing us to live on this Earth and breathe the air each and every day! I hope to hear of some ways you’ve expressed your grateful hearts!
~Love to all~
