Sleep walking through life…

I know of no other way to describe it these days. So many of us, myself included, have become nothing short of mere mindless robots, somehow sleep walking our way through this life. We get up, go to work, go home or wherever else we need to after work, to bed and then up the next morning to do it all over again. Somewhere amidst all of that, we forgot what it’s like to actually live, rather than just going through the motions.

What happened that caused us to become these soulless robots? To some degree, society happened. It made us believe that we had to always be better, or more successful than the next person. So, we start going through the daily routine as if on auto-pilot.

There’s going to come a point that you get so totally burnt out, that you will push yourself into a meltdown. It is about time that we wake up and realize that there is so much more to life. Yes, I know…we have to have the jobs to be able to live. But you don’t have to work yourself to death. There is a happy medium, between work and pleasure. Get outside once in a while, enjoy nature. Do something that you ENJOY doing. And if you can’t figure out what that might be, then I’d say you’ve been a robot for far too long. Get out and live a little.

Take the chances to chase your dreams…. Want to start your own business? Do the research and find a way to make it happen. Want to go back to school and get your degree? Then what’s stopping you? Make it happen. We are never too old to want to make those changes or chase those dreams. We deserve that after all.

So…I challenge you to make a date with yourself this week. Decide what you want to do first to break the cycle. I’d be curious to hear what you choose to do!!!

  1. That’s so true… I use to work all day everyday and I finally decided a few months ago that work isn’t everything… So I gave up a few of my jobs especially the ones on the weekends to focus my time on spending time with loved ones and making memories!
